Standard Homeowners Insurance Coverage
Standard homeowners insurance policies will provide several types of coverage, up to the limits that are outlined in your policy. These are the most common:
- Dwelling. This includes paying for destruction or damage to your house and unattached structures, including storage sheds, fences, and detached garages.
- Liability. This portion protects you against financial loss in the event that someone else is injured while on your property.
- Loss of use. This includes paying for additional living expenses if your home becomes too damaged to reside in during repairs.
- Medical payments. This portion covers the medical bills for people who are injured on your property.
Personal property. The contents of your house, including appliances, clothing, and furniture are covered with this portion of the policy. This includes when property is destroyed, damaged, or stolen.
